Nithyasahayakan Trust’s Amma Veedu shelter Another Stroke-Affected Mother from Vaikom Hospital

Vaikom: In yet another act of compassion, the Nithya Sahayakan Trust’s Amma Veedu shelter has taken in Thankamma, an elderly woman from Ward 12 of the Maravanthuruthu Grama Panchayat, who was left paralyzed and speech-impaired after suffering a stroke.

The decision to offer her long-term shelter was made following the recommendation of Panchayat Member Paul Thomas Maniyala, with the support of Thankamma’s relative Vineesh, who came forward recognizing the urgent need for care. With no children and a husband, Chandran, who is also bedridden and unable to provide any help, Thankamma was left without support or caregivers.

During the daily lunch distribution by the Trust at Vaikom Government Hospital, Vineesh approached the Nithya Sahayakan team and requested support for Thankamma. Trust President Anil Joseph and Secretary Sindhu V.K. immediately visited the hospital to evaluate her condition and moved quickly to complete the necessary procedures for admission.

Thankamma was formally taken into the care of Amma Veedu, where she will now receive compassionate support, care, and dignity.

The admission was coordinated with the leadership of Vice President Surendran K.K., Thomas Anchampil, Jayashree, Elsy G. Joe, Jaison Palayil, Alphil, Claramma Babu, Ruby Kuryanthadam, and Sura Perumali, along with nurses Reetha Jaison and Soumya.

The Nithya Sahayakan Trust continues to provide daily free meals at Vaikom, Uzhavoor, Kuravilangad, and Koodalloor hospitals, as well as at the Njizhoor school for children with disabilities, both at lunch and dinner.
